AVUS (Circuit)
The Automobil Verkehrs- und Übungsstraße, or AVUS, was a unique, high-speed circuit in Berlin, Germany. Originally an experimental public road, it hosted 1 Formula 1 races between 1959 and 1959. Its defining features were two extremely long straights connected by banked turns, including the infamous "Nordkurve" which lacked a safety barrier. This layout made AVUS one of the fastest circuits ever used in Grand Prix racing, demanding ultimate engine power and bravery from its drivers. Its dangerous nature ultimately led to its discontinuation from top-tier motorsport.
