Scarab
Scarab, the brainchild of Lance Reventlow, was an ambitious American constructor that briefly challenged European dominance in the late 1950s. Their striking front-engined cars, initially successful in American sports car racing, were adapted for Formula 1, entering 9 Grand Prix races. Despite innovative design and meticulous craftsmanship, the Scarabs struggled against the rapidly evolving mid-engined European machines, failing to score points. Though their F1 tenure was short and without major success, Scarab remains a notable example of American privateer spirit in Grand Prix racing.
