Lotus-Borgward

Lotus-Borgward was a short-lived but intriguing partnership that emerged for the 1959 Formula 1 season. Colin Chapman’s nascent Lotus engineering prowess combined with Borgward’s four-cylinder, 1.5-liter engine, seeking to challenge the established marques. Despite promising initial testing, the cars, driven by Graham Hill and Innes Ireland, struggled with reliability and power output. The venture ultimately competed in 2 races, achieving no wins or podiums before Borgward withdrew from motorsport, leaving Lotus to forge its own legendary path.
