Lotus-Maserati

Though Lotus is synonymous with Ford-Cosworth engines, the team briefly ran Maserati power in 1957. The Lotus 12, designed by Colin Chapman, was initially fitted with the Italian marque's 2.5-liter 6-cylinder engine. This short-lived partnership participated in 2 races, but the car proved uncompetitive and unreliable, failing to score any points. This marked Lotus's singular foray with Maserati power before solidifying their long-standing relationship with British engine suppliers.
