Protos
Protos was a short-lived Formula 1 constructor that appeared in a single race, the 1967 British Grand Prix. Built and driven by Piers Courage, the Protos F2 car was modified to accept a larger engine for its solitary championship outing. Despite failing to finish the race due to an engine issue, the endeavor showcased Courage's engineering ambition and independent spirit. The Protos P1, powered by a 2.0-liter Ford FVA engine, remains a curious footnote in F1 history, representing the era of privateers and unique, one-off entries.
