Kojima

Kojima Engineering holds a unique place in Formula 1 history as the only all-Japanese constructor to build its own chassis and compete in its home Grand Prix. Founded by former motorcycle racer Matsuhisa Kojima, the team entered the 1976 and 1977 Japanese Grands Prix with local talent. Their distinctive KE007 and KE009 chassis, often featuring Bridgestone tires, showcased a determined independent spirit against established European outfits. Though their F1 tenure was brief, Kojima remains a fondly remembered example of privateer ambition in the sport.
