Shadow-Ford

Shadow, an American-registered but British-based team, entered Formula 1 in 1973 with their distinctive black DN1 chassis. Known for their innovative, if sometimes controversial, engineering solutions under Don Nichols, the team fielded an array of talented drivers throughout the decade. Despite flashes of promise, including one memorable victory at the 1977 Austrian Grand Prix, consistent success proved elusive. Shadow competed in 26 races, achieving 0 wins and 1 podium finishes before financial difficulties led to their departure after the 1980 season.
