Troy Ruttman, born in 1930, was an American racing driver best known for winning the 1952 Indianapolis 500, which counted towards the Formula 1 World Championship. Ruttman competed in a total of 2 World Championship races, all of them at the Indy 500 between 1950 and 1960. While his primary focus was American championship racing, his single F1 victory at Indianapolis solidifies his unique place in Formula 1 history.
