Johnny Dumfries, the Scottish aristocrat and heir to the Marquess of Bute title, had a brief but intriguing Formula 1 career. After winning the 1984 British Formula 3 Championship, he debuted in 1986 with Lotus, partnering Ayrton Senna. He showed flashes of pace, finishing fifth at the Hungarian Grand Prix and scoring points in two races across his 15 Grands Prix. That single season was his only one in Formula 1, and he later moved to endurance racing, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1988 with Jaguar.
