Johnny Thomson was an American driver who started the Indianapolis 500 6 times between 1953 and 1960, when the race counted towards the Formula 1 World Championship. He won pole position for the 1959 race and finished third, his best result and only podium. He scored points in three of his Indianapolis starts. Thomson was killed in a USAC race at Allentown, Pennsylvania, in 1960.
