Don Freeland was an American driver whose Formula 1 World Championship entries all came in the Indianapolis 500, which counted towards the title in the 1950s. He started the race 7 times between 1953 and 1960, driving cars from Watson, Phillips and Kurtis Kraft. His best result was third place in the 1956 Indianapolis 500, which earned him championship points and a podium finish. Freeland was one of the many American open-wheel drivers who appeared in the championship only through the race at Indianapolis.
