Jim Hall was an American driver and engineer who raced for Lotus in Formula 1 from 1960 to 1963, taking his best result of fifth place at the 1963 German Grand Prix with a BRM-powered car. He started 11 Grands Prix in all. Hall is better known as the co-founder of Chaparral Cars, whose innovative designs, including cars with movable wings and fan-assisted ground effect, won races in the Can-Am series and the World Sportscar Championship.
