Pierre Levegh, a French sportsman known for his diverse racing career in endurance events and sports car racing, briefly entered Formula 1 in its nascent years. While his F1 career spanned just 6 starts, without scoring points, he is tragically remembered for the catastrophic accident at the 1955 24 Hours of Le Mans. Driving a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, his crash resulted in the deaths of over 80 spectators, making it the worst disaster in motorsport history and profoundly impacting racing safety regulations globally.
