Gerhard Mitter was a German driver who started five Formula 1 Grands Prix in 1963, 1964 and 1965. He drove a Porsche in his debut season and finished fourth at the 1963 German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, his best result, before moving to a Lotus-Climax in his other appearances. He was best known as a Porsche and BMW works driver in sports cars and hillclimbs. Mitter was killed in practice for the 1969 German Grand Prix meeting at the Nurburgring.
