Carel Godin de Beaufort
Jonkheer Carel Godin de Beaufort was a Dutch nobleman and a true privateer in an era of factory teams, often competing with his own Porsche machinery. Known for his jovial nature and distinctive red helmet, he embodied the amateur spirit of early Formula 1. De Beaufort competed in 31 Grand Prix races, securing a single podium finish at the 1962 Dutch Grand Prix. Tragically, his career was cut short by a fatal accident during practice for the 1964 German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring.
