Rial
Rial's brief foray into Formula 1 in the late 1980s was marked by ambitious, if ultimately unsuccessful, engineering. Founded by Günther Schmid, who had previously run the ATS F1 team, Rial entered as a constructor in 1988 with a car designed by Gustav Brunner. Despite securing a surprising fourth-place finish at the 1988 Detroit Grand Prix with Andrea de Cesaris, the team struggled with reliability and funding. Rial participated in 48 races, but its financial woes and a lack of consistent performance led to its withdrawal partway through the 1989 season.
