F1 Report

Olivier Grouillard

Bertrand Gachot, a mercurial and often controversial figure, competed in 62 Formula 1 Grands Prix between 1989 and 1995. His career is perhaps most famously remembered for the unfortunate incident that led to his imprisonment in 1991, inadvertently opening the door for Michael Schumacher's explosive F1 debut. Gachot's best result was a fifth-place finish at the 1991 Canadian Grand Prix, showcasing flashes of speed that hinted at unfulfilled potential. Despite a challenging journey through various midfield and backmarker teams, he remained a determined and passionate competitor throughout his time in the sport.
