Detroit Street Circuit
The Detroit Street Circuit, a temporary course laid out in the Renaissance Center area, hosted Formula 1 from 1982 to 1988. Known for its tight corners and bumpy surface, it presented a unique challenge, often leading to attrition. Its downtown location and urban backdrop offered a distinct American Grand Prix experience, far removed from traditional road courses, and contributed to a period of growing F1 presence in the United States. The circuit held 7 Formula 1 World Championship events.
