AGS
AGS (Automobiles Gonfaronnaises Sportives) was a small, artisanal French constructor that originated from a racing school. Their improbable journey to Formula 1 in 1986, starting with a heavily modified Formula 2 chassis, embodied the spirit of privateers. Despite operating on a shoestring budget, AGS competed in 123 Grands Prix, occasionally showing flashes of pace, but ultimately struggled for consistent performance and funding. Their F1 tenure, marked by numerous driver changes and a constant battle for survival, ended in 1991, leaving them as a charming, if ultimately unsuccessful, footnote in the sport's history.
