Peter Gethin was a British driver who raced for McLaren and BRM between 1970 and 1974. He won the 1971 Italian Grand Prix at Monza in a BRM, beating Ronnie Peterson by 0.01 seconds in what is still one of the closest finishes in Formula 1 history. That victory was his only podium in 30 starts. Gethin also won the 1971 Race of Champions, and he later raced in Formula 5000 and sports cars.
