Race Notes
- Because of rain and the track being wet the start was delayed by more than 3 hours. The max race duration was overruled and extended to 4 h by the stewards.
- Perez crashed his car pre-race. Because of the delayed start, the mechanics could fix his car and he could start from the pits (in the last place).
- The race took only place 2 laps behind the safety car making this race the shortest race in F1 history. Because the distance was under 75 % of the planned laps the points get halved. Many fans critizise the 2 laps behind the safety car with the argument that when no racing took place no points should be given.[1]Belgium Grand Prix facts & stats: Spa marathon produces shortest race in F1 history(www.formula1.com)

Tyre selection
Out of five possible tyre compounds Pirelli selects a set of three for each race weekend. C1 is the hardest available tyre and C5 is the softest one. Intermediate and wet tyres are the same each weekend. The hardest tyre in a reace is always coloured white, the middle one yellow and the softest one red.
