Aston Martin first appeared in Formula 1 in 1959 and 1960 with the front-engined DBR4, driven by Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby, but its early effort was uncompetitive. The name returned in 2021, when the former Racing Point team was rebranded, with Sebastian Vettel finishing second at the 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix and Fernando Alonso taking a run of podiums in 2023. The team has started 136 Grands Prix and reached the podium 9 times.
