Race Notes
- First corners: Verstappen starting from 3rd place managed to overtake both Mercedes in the first corner with the help of a slipstream. Bottas was spun after a collision with Ricciardo. Causing both to pit and end up last. Ocon was Sandwiched by Schumacher and Tsunoda resulting in retirements for the Alpha Tauri and Haas driver.
- Sainz had a better pace than Leclerc resulting in Ferrari ordering a swap of positions. Sainz managed to build a gap and came closer to Gasly but couldn't come close. They swapped positions back in the end.[2]Ferrari drivers shrug off team orders spat in Mexico after wrenching P3 from McLaren(www.formula1.com)
- In the last few laps with no hopes for Bottas to score any points he changed to new soft tyres and tried to steal the fastest lap from Verstappen. He came out before Verstappen who slowed him and ruined his lap. Bottas managed to overtake him but Verstappen stepped up his pace again and forced a blue flag for Bottas resulting in him having to let Verstappen overtake him. After that, the Mercedes driver pitted again to get away and managed to get the fastest lap in the last one.
