Jo Bonnier

Joakim Bonnier was a Swedish nobleman and versatile racer whose career spanned from sports cars to Formula 1. He achieved a significant milestone by winning the 1959 Dutch Grand Prix, marking BRM's first-ever Formula 1 victory. Known for his gentlemanly demeanor off-track and fierce competitive spirit on it, Bonnier competed in 109 Grands Prix, securing 1 podium finishes and 1 pole positions. Beyond his driving, he was instrumental in establishing the Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA), advocating for improved safety standards in an era of perilous racing.
