Hungaroring (Circuit)
The Hungaroring, nestled near Budapest, holds the distinction of being the first Formula 1 circuit behind the Iron Curtain, hosting its inaugural Grand Prix in 1986. Its tight, twisty layout with few long straights makes it often compared to a permanent street circuit, demanding high downforce and excellent mechanical grip. Overtaking is notoriously difficult here, placing a premium on qualifying position and pit strategy. Despite its challenging nature, the circuit has become a beloved fixture on the calendar, having hosted 40 F1 races.
